Billing & Payments

• When will I receive my first and subsequent billing statements?

  Your first billing statement should arrive within four days of installation, and your statement date is the same every month. Your billing statements are automatically generated monthly based on your installation date. We invoice a month in advance for service and lease fees, so the payment will be for the next 30 days of service. Your billing statement will indicate the date that it is due to be paid.

• How will I receive my billing statements?

  Viasat is a paperless company, you won’t receive a stat­ement in the postal mail. You’ll be able to view your monthly statement online when logged into My Viasat web or My Viasat mobile app. To log in, you’ll need your Viasat account number.

• Will my billing statement always be for the same amount?

  Your first statement may be slightly higher. It will include the first full month of service, plus a prorated installation and your first statement being generated 3-4 days service); there may also be one-time charges with new service. If you change your service plan or elect to purchase additional services, your statement will reflect those changes.

• How do I pay for my service?

  You’ll pay for your Viasat service by providing us with a form of payment that we’ll automatically charge on the same day each month. We’ll send you an email at that time advising you that the payment is processing. You may choose to pay with a credit/debit card or, a bank account. Once you’re set up with automatic payments, you’ll always be able to view your statement online at My Viasat web or My Viasat mobile app. You may also make a one-time payment in My Viasat.

• Does Viasat internet service have a contract?

  Viasat Unleashed service plans do not require an annual contract, which means there is no minimum service term commitment. You will have a month-to-month service term, which you may cancel at any time without an early termination fee..

Installation & Equipment

• What can I expect during my installation?

  The installation process is quick and easy. A certified professional technician will install the equipment and activate the Viasat Internet service at your location. Viasat customers cannot install their own equipment. Installation requires a trained technician to make sure that the dish is pointed at the satellite accurately and to verify that all connections are properly made. Installations typically take 2-3 hours.

• What kind of equipment is installed?

  The main equipment you need for Viasat Internet is an official Viasat satellite dish, transceiver, and bracket assembly, a Viasat internet modem, and the related cables and hardware. This equipment is supplied by Viasat and will need to be returned after your account is disconnected.

  The Viasat satellite dish is about 30 in. wide x 28 in. high and can be easily mounted on your roof, on an outside wall of your home, or on a pole in the ground. A cable from the dish connects to the modem, which connects to your computer. If your equipment installation requires a non-standard option, there may be additional charges at the time of installation. For example, an installer may charge up to $75 for a pole mount.

• Is my location ready for satellite internet?

  A Viasat-certified technician will discuss site requirements with you, such as a clear line of site to the southern sky, and will hoose the best location for the dish. Someone over the age of 18 must be present during installation..

• Do I need permission to install satellite internet if I live in an HOA or shared building?

  Before scheduling an installation, you will need to check with your landlord or homeowner’s association (HOA) to see if they allow the Viasat satellite dish. The Viasat dish is governed by the FCC Over-the-Air Reception Devices (“OTARD”) Rule. The Viasat dish has the same classification as other residential dishes like satellite television dishes. It can usually be mounted on your home unless your landlord or HOA specifically prohibits dishes of any kind.

Data Usage Explained

• What types of data will I receive?

  The Viasat Unleashed plan comes with Unlimited Data.

• How is my data usage measured?

  Your data usage is measured by the number of Gigabytes (GB) transferred, or used, between your network and the Internet. Common data measurements are Gigabytes (GB), Megabytes (MB), and Kilobytes (KB). 1 GB is roughly one billion bytes, or about one thousand Megabytes (MB).

• How much monthly data usage is available with my Viasat Unleashed service plan?

  On the Viasat Unleashed service plan, there are no limits to how much data you can use. We have designed the plan to meet the typical usage needs of a residential customer on our network.

  No contract means there is no minimum service term commitment. You may cancel at any time. The Viasat Unleashed plan comes with unlimited data. If at any time your data usage is trending to exceed the "typical usage" of a residential customer on our network, you may have reduced priority during times of network congestion resulting in slower speeds. Typical usage represents the data usage of 70% of residential customers on our network and is consistent with data usage trending below 360 GBs in any 30-day period. Customers trending to exceed the typical usage threshold should expect to receive about half of their normal service speeds depending on the extent of network congestion. Customers trending to use more data than 95% of all residential customers, which is consistent with data usage trending to exceed 850 GB of data usage in any 30-day period, may experience significantly slower speeds during congestion resulting in a substantial reduction in the performance of applications and video streaming. • Does the measurement of my data usage reset each month?

  No. The Viasat Unleashed plan does not reset data usage monthly.
